May Post #24: Support Your Local Economy
Mary and I decided to start the weekend off by supporting our local merchants. We headed over to Manitou Springs which is the touristy town just west of Colorado Springs.
I met Mary at her house. She has the most beautiful little garden out front. I'm jealous!
This is why I love Colorado. Most of us believe in science. When scientists and epidemiologists tell you to wear a mask to protect yourself and others, we listen. The shops required masks and only allowed a few visitors in the shop at a time. Several even had hand washing stations outside and required hand washing before entering the store. Kudos to them!
We really didn't have to worry about social distancing because the streets were bare. Normally this place would be packed with summer visitors.
Mary was a happy camper, she found her boho light switch covers in this store.
Don't I have a beautiful daughter? Even with the face mask she is breathtaking. Speaking of these Day of the Dead face masks, one of the merchants asked me if I'd be willing to make a bunch for her to sell in her shop. I told her I would love to, but there's no fabric to be found anywhere.
Here's Mary with the natural healing waters that can only be found in Manitou Springs.
Before leaving Mary required me to have my picture taken so we found a rustic stone staircase. She wouldn't let me wear my face mask, but no worries...there were no other people around. I don't know about the rest of you, but wearing a face mask isn't so bad. Nobody really knows if you're wearing makeup or not. One good thing!
We were only there a couple hours. The restaurants and breweries aren't open yet which is always one of the best parts of visiting Manitou.
Have a safe holiday weekend and don't be a moron, wear a mask!
