Skywatch Friday: Winter Skies

Image
For some reason we have had the most amazing sunsets in Southern Colorado this winter.   I recently stepped outside my front door and snapped a couple quick shots. This one is toward the south and the Sangre de Cristo mountains. This one is directly west towards Pikes Peak and Cheyenne Mountain. It looks like someone took a paint brush and painted those incredible skies.  I am so blessed to live a place with so much beauty. Happy Skywatch Friday!

LIfe goes on...

So much for being a more reliable blogger in 2020.  I always have great intentions, but the follow through isn't so great.  The last few months have really been weighing on me.  I try to find the positive in every day, but sometimes it is so difficult.  Here's a rundown on what's been going on since my last post. My brother continues to face new challenges.  He is now in his sixth facility since becoming ill in November.  During all this time and the challenges he has faced he has never once complained which is very refreshing.  He has a strong Christian belief which is evidenced by his enduring faith.  He still needs your continued prayers as he's facing some serious complications right now. At the beginning of the month we lost our sweet black lab.  I've been putting off blogging about Keira because her absence is still very painful.  When you have a happy, go lucky companion for 16 years and then she's gone just like that, it's ...

Election Season Week 2

Image
Tomorrow is the New Hampshire primaries.  Who's going to come out on top this week?  My main man, Senator Micheal Bennet, has been campaigning hard in New Hampshire.  Unfortunately, I think this might be the end for him because most people don't know anything about him.  I've met Michael several times when I was a delegate for Hillary.  He's a good, honest, hardworking family man.  He would make a great president. Michael's only downfall, if you can call it that, is that he's too decent of a person.  So I've yet to decide who I'll be casting my vote for on Super Tuesday.  I've narrowed it down to two candidates.  I've promised myself not to get too involved in anyone's campaign this year.  The Hillary loss was devastating.  I promise though, that whoever is on the ballot in November I will be voting for the candidate with the "D" next to their name.  Yes, even if it's Bernie.   Our main goal is to take back t...

Snow, Snow Go Away!

Image
For anyone who might not know this fact about me...I HATE cold and snow!  This fact has nothing to do with my turning 60, it's been a fact since the day I was born.  Why then am I living in Colorado?  We have snow forecast for the next six out of seven days. Yesterday morning when I went out to feed the horses we had a dusting on the ground.  Within a couple hours we had a couple inches. Our forecast had been for a trace to two inches.  We were quickly surpassing that weather forecast guess.  I'm told it's really difficult to forecast the weather here on the front range and therefore the forecast is quite often a best guess.   By early afternoon the snow had become too deep for Maisy to be able to "do her business".  Don't worry though, I went out and cleared an area that she could move around in.  See that look on her face?  That's the same look I get when I have to be out in the snow. We were supposed to...

Time for Spring Cleaning

Image
We had a snow day yesterday.  Actually only a couple inches of snow, but bitterly cold so it was a good day to stay inside.  I told Irv I was starting my spring cleaning.  He, of course, said spring was a long time off, but I told him you have to have faith. Post #1 about being 60.  One thing you may or may not know about me is that I like order around me.  I like to know where things are located.  I greatly dislike clutter.  I like to be super organized. This master closet is not super organized: My closet was pure chaos.  Now, before I start this post I request there be no comments about the amount of clothes I own (that's a post for another day). The first step was to get everything out of closet and sort it into piles.  What to keep, what to toss, what to donate.  Then you sort it by the type of clothing--sweaters, button down shirts, work out clothing, jeans, etc.  Keep in mind that I'm not the type of wife who ...

Time for a makeover and a theme

Here it is February and I've only done three posts for the new year.  To be honest I was contemplating closing the blog. My brother, Yogi , is my only loyal follower, or at least the only one who bothers to leave comments.  I know I have some readers because they will mention something from my blog when I see them in person or talk to them on the phone.  Why they don't leave comments is beyond me--I always tell Irv it's a lack of manners.  :) I thought I'd turn my blog into a book.  I've been blogging for over 10 years now and it's pretty much a journal of the highs and lows in life.  The blog is too big to do one big book so I'd have to do a book for each year at about $65-$100 per year.  A healthy investment for something that only I would want to read.  For that reason I decided to keep the blog active. I've been thinking and thinking about a theme for my blog.  I've always jumped from subject to subject with no real direction or theme...
