Wednesday flex time!

One of the things I love most about summer is the flexible schedule we have at work.  This year they incorporated all kinds of new rules so we can only take half a day off and it can't be every Friday so I rotate between Wednesdays and Fridays.  I work four 9-hour days and one 4-hour day.

It's a great time to get errands done.

I started by getting my haircut.  Then I shifted back into work mode and met one of our contractors for a lunch meeting about virtualizing our servers.

After that I met Irv and we went to one of our local running companies.  During that 10K a couple weeks ago my feet really hurt and Irv has had pain on the bridge of his foot ever since so we decided it was time to be professionally fit for good quality running shoes.

First they videoed our feet while walking and then running to analyze our gait.  Turns out we are both pronators which means out feet roll inward more than they should and the foot and ankle have problems stabilizing the body and absorbing the shock.  It also causes the front of the foot, mainly the big toe and second toe, to do the majority of the push off.  This explains why my toes hurt so bad after a run.  So we both needed a stabilizing shoe.

They brought each of us three choices which we could put on and go for a run outside or on the treadmill to see which was the most comfortable.

We both picked our favorite shoe then I took them to the cash register so Irv wouldn't die of sticker shock.  I must say that I was really proud of him because he didn't even ask what the shoes cost until we got out to the car.  They were the most expensive athletic shoes we've ever owned, but they come with a 30 day guarantee so if they don't work so well at Saturday's run, we can take them back and exchange them.   I figured we probably overpaid for these shoes, but it was worth it to have a professional fit us with the right shoe.  I was pleasantly surprised when I looked online and they were the same price as in the store.  That running company definitely has my business from now on.

So here's what we ended up with.  We did not care about the color, just the comfort.  I will say that I like me a lot better than Irv's orange!

After shoe shopping we went to Lowe's for the last quart of paint, then we hung out at Dollar Tree while waiting for Shiloh's summer group to finish up with their movie.

I then headed over to get a pedicure, but halfway there I decided I'd rather go home and take a nap.  What a treat for the middle of the week!  Then it was time for my monthly ladies night out card group which is always fun.

A great day!  I wish every day could be a flex day.

We have a year round 9/80 schedule and I love it even though my boss doesn't. My two co directors and my boss both work half their days off and it's been hinted that I should also. I refuse, unless there is a customer meeting or something else specific that I need to go to.

Your expensive shoes are a great and necessary investment for running. The cheaper Academy shoes will destroy your feet. So good for you.
