Eating, eating, eating, and more eating

One of the best (and also one of the worst) things about visiting family is the food.  I'm on a low-fat, five small meals a day plan to help combat the pain that SOD causes.  However, when you're in Albuquerque you have to have Mexican food and lots of it.

My favorite restaurant in Albuquerque is Gardunos.  During our last visit there I was told they had all closed, but since I had a hard time believing this, I looked it up myself.  Yes, it is true that a couple of their locations have closed, but two were still open.  With a little prodding, we convinced Irv's mom and dad and his sister and brother-in-law to join us.

Of course no Mexican food dinner is complete without a margarita.

Irv had a burrito.

I had my favorite--cheese enchiladas with green chili sauce.  Yummy!  (So much for making wise low-fat food choices.)

In New Mexico no meal is complete without soapapillas and honey (another wise low-fat food choice.)

Gardunos is a "must go" place in Albuquerque (for me anyway).

There was lots of other eating during this trip.  Celebratory dinner at The Cooperage, breakfast at the Route 66 Diner, and a fantastic barbecue courtesy of Irv's Mom and Dad.  It was so good to see everyone.  Now it's back to boot camp and a fruit, vegetable, fish, and chicken diet.

The weather in Albuquerque was fantastic.  Irv even got to golf one day although he did not take any pictures--what kind of blogger husband is he anyway?

The weather took a dive on the drive home, although it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Everyone was glad to see us when we got home.  You would have thought we'd been gone for 4 weeks, not 4 days.  I think Irv gets a little jealous of the homecoming greetings that I get.  He's not so lucky.

What a zoo!

Thanks for the wonderful visit.
We normally don't eat like that either.

Yes I get a LOT jealous, those animals get all kinds of attention. But poor me, I get none.
