Cookin' for Dad

I discovered a couple new things about my dad while I was in Idaho.  1)  He's great at crossword puzzles and 2) He apparently survives on canned chili.

Irv and I decided we needed to do something about my dad's diet so we spent the day cooking.

Beef stew

Cinnamon rolls

Chicken enchiladas (my dad's favorite)

Cinnamon chip Snickerdoodles (from the Prepared Pantry)  Yummy!

And Irv's favority, lasagne

We packaged it all into individual servings and put them in the freezer.  At least I know he'll be eating good from a couple weeks.

My dad is 83 and in great shape, but he doesn't have much interest in cooking.  I sure wish he lived closer so I could keep his freezer full of homemade meals.

Do you think my girls will cook for me when I'm old?  Probably not...but maybe they'll bring me Chick Fil A.

1) I want those cookies.
2) I probably won't cook for you but I'm happy to pay someone to do it for you. Or pay to send Mary or Jillian to a cooking class so they can do it for you. Or if you insist on my cooking - I make a mean grilled cheese.

Wow, you cooked up a storm. Yeah, I think Gramps eats lots of canned chili.

You're a good daughter. Everything looks delicious. Gramps is so lucky. Glad you guys were there to fix him up. We worry about his lack of fresh food, too. Sorry to hear about the scare. That would be very traumatic for him, you, and Irv. My mom had to rescue her dog, Reba, out of the swimming pool while we were in Eureka. She actually had to go into the pool to get her. I guess that is why we don't get away very often.
