Welcome 2018: Demolition Time!

It's finally here--2018!

There was a post on Facebook the other day asking for a description of 2017 in one word.  I found that to be very difficult.  I had very high highs and very low lows.  In one word I'd have to say rollercoaster, or is that two words (either way that's my word)?  From the joy of working in Yellowstone and having our entire family here for Thanksgiving to the death of my dad.  It was a rollercoaster.

2018 is going to bring new adventures starting with our kitchen remodel that starts tomorrow.

I'm a very OCD person about the cleanliness and organization of my house so having the heart of the home torn apart for two months is going to be a challenge, a very large challenge.

The cabinets, pantry and drawers are empty now and ready for demolition.  Here's some before demo pics.

The dogs are feeling a little anxious.  They think we must be moving.

So where's all the stuff?  In boxes and tubs and bags stored around the house.

The guest room has become our new kitchen station.

I've got my toaster, Keurig (for tea), crockpot, paper plates and plasticware here.  I'm going to be surviving on peanut butter sandwiches for a couple weeks until the new cabinets are installed.

The new cabinets have been sitting in our garage for the last couple weeks.  By the number of boxes you'd think we had and enormous kitchen.

The stone company can't come make a template for the counter tops until the lower cabinets are all installed.  At that time they'll come make the template and it will take 4-6 weeks to get my beautiful quartz counter tops made.  That's the longest part of the process.  After the counter tops are installed then they can put in my new farmer's sink and the backsplash.  It's going to be a lengthy process, but it will be well worth it in the end.

My blogging station typically resides on our kitchen table so I'll probably have to move someplace else.  Our guest room is full of "kitchen stuff" so I hope nobody plans to come for a visit anytime soon.

I haven't quite figured out what I'm going to do all day long while the crew is here working on the kitchen.  I suppose the critters and I will disappear into my studio to work on the five unfinished paintings I've currently got in progress.

It's going to be great!
