A big week ahead
Well, this is the week that I've been waiting for. Big changes are on the way!
I've been putting off blogging about our Europe trip. I took over a thousand pictures during the two weeks and I want to get them properly organized so the blogging is on hold until that project is done.
Anyway, this week is for celebration starting with one of my favorite 5Ks on Saturday. Actually, the first mile of this race is an uphill grade. There were times that I wondered "why the hell am I doing this?" Today my muscles are wondering the same thing, but I did my usual workout on the treadmill at 5 a.m.

It's a tough race made even tougher by the injury to my lungs with that PE. My time this year was a full 5 minutes slower than last year. But that's okay, at least I'm still trying and I'm still breathing!
Originally I was going to do this 5K by myself. It's always nice to have company, but Mary was only allowed to join me if she agreed to go ahead at her own pace. I don't like it when people turn around and wait for me--I'd rather be alone so I can go at a comfortable pace.
On Sunday I tabulated our county's horse judging contest. I got to see some old friends so it was a fun day.
Today I start my last week of work. Yes, I'm retiring after 28 years in the workforce and almost 15 of those years were spent with Farm Credit. It was a hard decision to make--I've climbed up the ladder to the VP level and a great salary, but you know what....there's more to life than working a very stressful job. That might sound crazy to a lot of people, but that PE changed my whole life view.
Don't worry though, I'll be starting my new career two weeks after I retire and for about 1/5th of what I earn now.
Live life to the fullest!
