Snowbound!

Last week all we heard on the news was about the blizzard of the century that going to occur this weekend.  Up to 20 inches of snow was expected.

Milk and bread!  Isn't that what you go get when you hear a big storm is coming?

In my opinion, there are many more items that are required to survive a weekend stuck at home--mainly cereal, popcorn, protein bars, bananas, and water.  Just a few of my favorite things!

On Saturday I tired to head out to my weekly painting lesson, but turned around and came back home once the roads became covered with snow.  I just didn't feel like making the 1 1/2 hour roundtrip drive to my lesson on snow covered roads.   So my coyote remains in its current state.  By the way, I don't think there is anything more difficult than painting fur!

Luckily I had prepared a weekend project that could be done in the event that the storm really happened.  I have been wanting to make a special gift for my new granddaughter and this was the perfect opportunity.

I took this pile of fabric and lace and turned it into....

a special dress for a special girl.  Only three weeks until she gets here.  I can't wait to meet her!

I must admit that I had help with the sewing.  Little Miss Sophie was quite intrigued by the sewing machine and kept pulling the tread out.  She'd be in real trouble is she weren't so darn cute.

What else do you do when you're stuck in the house?  I had a "How to get away with murder" marathon.  I was about six episodes behind.  I love that show!

A nap or two!

We cleaned the house.  I coerced Irv into helping me clean out my craft room closet.  Jillian is going to get a load of horse show ribbons and Hanson posters that have been left in the closet for lots of years.

Everything is out of that closet now except for my craft supplies--knitting, sewing, painting, even the cross stitch Noah's Ark that I started for Jillian before she was born.  (Maybe it's time to give up on that project.)

Since I'm one of the 57% of Americans who like to get some daily exercise I did about three miles on my treadmill.  This is so incredibly boring to me.  I should have put my snow gear on and gone for a walk outside.  (Not!)

I watched an episode the Pioneer Woman.  She whipped up some chicken enchiladas which inspired me.

I fried up some seasoned chicken breasts, browned some tortillas...

Irv shredded the chicken and I rolled them up, soaked them in green chili sauce and baked them.  (Is there anything that doesn't taste good if it's soaked in green chili sauce?)

We served them up with some diced tomatoes and lettuce and black beans.  All I can say is "Thank you Pioneer Woman!"

A little St. Clair Winery Mimbres Red and it makes for the perfect dinner.  This is my last bottle of this wine so I think a trip to New Mexico is needed in the near future.

All in all, being forced to stay home for an entire weekend was very productive.  For this lady who is always on the go, it was relaxing and restful; however, once a year is plenty.

Ready for the sun to start shining and all this snow to melt.  Luckily, I'm in an online training class all week and I told my boss I was just going to stay home for the training tomorrow so I get another day at home!  The bad part is that it starts at 6:45 a.m. because the trainer is on the east coast.  Oh well, nobody will know that I'm attending class in my jammies.

Life is good!

(Thankful for the snow!)
