Spring cleaning in November
I had quite a productive day today. It started early this morning when I got up early to finish my homework assignment for this week. I submitted my homework around 7:30 a.m., had a little breakfast, and then thought it would be fun to put up the Christmas trees.
But it's just not right to put up your Christmas decorations while the fall decorations are still out. So first I packed up the fall decorations (which had been out all of five days).

While doing that I noticed my closet. It wouldn't be right to put up Christmas decorations while my summer clothes are still hanging in my main closet. Okay, time to switch out the summer clothes with the winter clothes. But it wasn't good enough to just switch them out, I have to go through them and apply the 12 month rule--if you haven't worn it in 12 months, it's highly unlikely you'll ever wear it again so it's time to get rid of it.

Two hours later I was done with that chore, then I made the mistake of taking a good look at Irv's side of the closet. Irv goes by the 30 year rule (really). He's working today so it's a good time to clean out some of his 1980s apparel. While I was at it I arranged his stuff by categories--sweaters, long sleeve button down shirts, other long sleeve shirts, short sleeve button down shirts, polo shirts, etc. (Yes, I am that kind of organized person.) I took quite a stack of stuff out of his side to donate, but let's not tell him. He'll never notice.
Then while transferring our out of season clothing to the spare closets, I decided I needed to clean those closets out also. Then the linen closet was asking for my attention. By the end of the closet cleaning out spree, I had piled the guest room bed very high with donations for Goodwill.
Next problem--boxes to put all this stuff in. I hauled my fall decorations out to the storage shed in hopes of finding boxes out there. Instead, I found the carcasses of approximately 5 million miller moths. Gross! I guess it's time to clean the shed and sweep all those dead moths out. An hour later, I still didn't have any boxes.
Maybe there's some in the garage. Nope. I'm usually a box hoarder, but Irv always makes fun of me so I try to break them down and take them to recycling regularly. Hmmm...if that stuff stays on the bed overnight, Irv is going to be in there trying to reclaim some of his treasures. Oh well. Hopefully some big shipments will come into work this week and I can steal the boxes.
Finally, it's time to put up the trees. Since we're going to my dad's house in Idaho this year, I didn't want to drag out the big tree and all the "stuff". Instead, I purchased these two small trees. I think they're lovely.

I also bought Mr. Beans a small tree for his room yesterday. His mom sent me a picture after he decorated it. The red, white, and blue theme was all of his choosing. I think he did a great job.
During all of this I was able to watch my Bronocs beat Irv's Chiefs. I feel bad for the Chiefs, they haven't won in a long time. Maybe they will win next week. Sorry Irv.
So I'm ready for winter now, not the snow part, but the cold part. Now I can sit back, relax, watch a little figure skaing, start my reading assignment for next week, and wait for Irv to come home. One last night of Thanksgiving leftovers for dinner.
It's amazing how good you feel when you get a lot done around the house in a single day.

I love your two trees. Dad says if somebody wants to put up his tree then can do it themselves! So get ready.
