Food, Drink, and Good Times

So I've been told that I need to keep up with my blogging.  We just went on this fantastic Alaskan cruise and I haven't shared any of the photos and/or stories yet.

Alaska was cold and wet, but we did get a couple days of sunshine.  I slept better on that ship than I have in ages.  My favorite part of the trip was, of course, spending time with family.  This is the first time we have spent a week with Irv's parents and Scott and Kim.  Unfortunately, I didn't get a single picture of the six of us together.

Dinner was the time that we would all be together.  We had the late seating and probably the best table in the dining room thanks to a mistake the cruise line made when booking our dining preferences.  Right in the middle of the back of the ship.  This was our view as we watch miles and miles of ocean behind us.

Dining was an event that took a couple hours. For some reason, every night we were always one of the last tables to leave.  I think we had the best time of anyone because we enjoyed each other's company so much.

There's a dress code in the dining room that our group adhered to.  We had fun dressing up for the formal nights, although there were some nights I would have like to just wear my jeans to dinner.

The food on the ship was pretty good and sometimes excellent, but it was always presented beautifully. We enjoyed our share of wine while on the ship. One thing I learned about Irv's family is that they have an uncanny way of getting free bottles of wine delivered to our table (maybe this has something to do with why I slept so good).

My darling husband even participated in a wine tasting.  He's not a wine drinker so I don't think he enjoyed it too much, but he was fun.  He took the remainder of all his glasses of wine (red and white), mixed them together, and made his own concoction.  Much to my surprise, it wasn't too bad.  (Yes, we drank it.)

Some of the free wine was a result of this bruise on Kim's arm. Yes, if you fall down stairs while on a cruise ship they send you free wine to make it better.

Kim and I had planned to sample every "drink of the day".  We didn't do a very good job of that, but we did order some unusual drinks.

Here I am with some kind of a mojito.  My favorite drink was the Alaskan Tea.

Mostly, we just had a good time together.

The food, drink, and company were fantastic.  Memories of a lifetime were created, but there was also breathtaking scenery and wildlife like this....   (more to come later)

Kim's bruise, ouch!! That looks at least worth two bottles of wine.

Glad you had a good time. Love that last shot!
