A gift card day!
So, here it is the middle of January and I've yet to live up to my resolution to be a more frequent blogger. I know everyone claims to be so busy these days, but my life has been out of control for months now.
This was the first weekend in months that I had no plans and no obligations. On Saturday I invited Irv on a date following my art class. This was our "gift card" date.
First, I finally finished my green bicycle. I signed my name to it that signifies its completion. I have to say that this is probably my favorite piece so far and by far the most detailed.
Then there was lunch at Colorado Hacienda, one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Colorado Springs. Lunch was courtesy of a gift card from my boss.
Then onto a little boutique for some shopping. I found myself a cute cardigan. A nice gift from a friend and former co-worker.
Then it was onto Sears to redeem a couple more gift cards. This time it was all about our upcoming trip to Europe. I've been looking for a crossbody bag to carry while we're in Europe to keep our passports and other valuables close and I was happy to find one. Thanks brother for the gift card!
Then it was onto Michael's to prepare for my next painting. I needed a new canvas and some new paint. I'm working on my very first piece of modern art. This is the start of that project, but it has a long way to go. Thanks daughter for the gift card!
Then we had a little time to kill before the movie so what better place to spend some time than at Barnes and Noble? I've been wanting an art history book and was lucky enough to find one on the discount rack. Thanks gift card!

Finally, it was onto the movie. It was Irv's pick and he chose (actually it was a mutual decision) a movie called Passengers with Jennifer Lawrence. It was a decent movie, but very predictable. I like going to the movies so I'm game for almost anything as long as it's not too much science fiction. Sorry, no gift card for the movie.
Irv and I are big believers in date nights (or days). It's important to have that one-on-one time together even after the kids are gone to keep the romance alive. There's no one I'd rather spend time with than that wonderful man!
