Frozen, frosty, frigid

We had an unusually cold day today.  It started well below zero with wind chills down to 18 below.  While we do get this kind of weather in Colorado, it's not usually this early--this is more normal for January or February.  It was kind of a shock since yesterday it was in the 60s although we knew it was coming.

I'm allergic to the cold, so I knew I was staying in the house all day.

It was probably a good thing this happened, otherwise the family might not have had any cookies for Christmas.

Irv took Mr. Beans to see new Star Wars movie so I got a day to myself.

Thanks to the Prepared Pantry I was able to quickly mix up three kinds of cookies--chocolate chip, cranberry key lime and snickerdoodles (my favorite).  The Prepared Pantry is my cousin's business up in Idaho. They make the BEST baking mixes.  Check it out here.  https://www.preparedpantry.com/

While I was baking cookies I was watching one of the best movies every made.  Do you know which one it is?  Yes, Rudy.  I've seen this movie dozens of times of and every time I cry and then feel like I can take on the world.  Follow your dreams!  Next year I'm going to follow one of my dreams and step outside my comfort zone.  I can't tell you more about it until March or so.

After Irv came home he "volunteered" to help me with the fudge.  It takes a lot of stirring so a little assistance is always appreciated.

We do half plain and add pecans to the other half.  I figure I'll be gaining at least five pounds in the next week thanks to this fudge.  Yum!

Even the dogs enjoyed a day at home in front of the fire.

The only time I went outside today was to get a load of wood for the fireplace and...

to snap a picture of our one and only outside Christmas decoration.  We're never home for Christmas so we don't do much in the way of decorating.  It makes me happy to at least have this tree lit up.

From the time I went outside to snap that picture until the time I came back in, the storm door frosted over.  That's when you know it's really cold outside.

Christmas song of the day-"Baby it's cold outside..."

I think the majority of the country is in a deep freeze right now.  How many days until spring arrives?
