God's Country
Greetings from the Tetons aka God's Country. This area is my favorite place on earth!
We went white water rafting this afternoon down the beautiful Snake River. It was a blast. Mr. Beans got to jump into the river twice to go for a "refreshing" swim. Refreshing because the water is about 45 degrees. Crazy kid! Then it stormed, rained, thundered, hailed, and the wind blew like crazy as we were trying to get out of the river. We were soaked and cold, but had a great time!
We had a fantastic several days with my dad, brother, and nephew. We even found a 5K to run in. I was pretty happy because I ran/walked my fastest time ever and was 3rd in my age division! Of course 3rd out of 7 isn't too much to brag about, but it will probably be the only time you ever see "3rd" next to my name.
Tonight we're staying at a fantastic lodge that not only has wonderful accommodations, it has...
We were fortunate to see a huge herd of elk near the lodge this afternoon. Anytime I can see a herd of wild, majestic critters I'm a happy woman.
So for the next few days we are going to be in the back country of Yellowstone out of cell range so we thought it best to post the trails we have planned to hike just in case we're never seen again. So girls, here's our basic plan so if you don't here from us again here's the place to start looking.
Tuesday - renting an ATV in Jackson Hole and going off roading to an unknown location. The rental company will provide maps and suggestions where to go. Afterwards we'll be heading into the Park to the Lake Lodge Cabins. On the way we plan to hike the Natural Bridge.
Wednesday - our destination is West Yellowstone, MT. This is Irv's birthday and he has chosen two hikes for the day: Fairy Falls and Mystic Falls.
Thursday - we're headed to Cody, WY and on the way we'll be hiking Canyon Rim South, Uncle Tom's Trail, and Tower Falls.
Friday we're headed home to Colorado where the boys will drop me off before they head out on phase 3 of the trip--Albuquerque. Irv's dad isn't feeling very well and we've been torn between keeping going on this trip or heading straight to Albuquerque. Irv made the decision to keep going, but his dad is constantly in our thoughts and prayers.
Happy to be in God's Country!

incredible cuisine.
Guess who had the buffalo sliders and added sun-dried tomatoes? I think Mr. Beans is expanding his list of acceptable foods.
He especially liked the espresso mudslides.
