Life is a highway...
How have we lived here for 14 years and never eaten at Pappadeaux before.
I started with a Nawleans punch. Then Irv and I shared a Greek salad and Irv had a cup of gumbo.
Needless to say, by the time dinner rolled around we were pretty much full already. It was so yummy, however, that we still managed to eat enough to make us extra full. Irv had the Mardi Gras Pasta.
I had the Cedar Plank Atlantic Salmon. Ummm...it is quite possibly the best salmon I have ever had. It came with asparagus that looked like it was on steroids and it was delicious too.
The portions were so big that we couldn't even eat half. After dinner we went and bought a bag of ice and cooler so our leftovers would stay cold during the concert.
Pappadeaux is a little pricey, but it was worth it!
After dinner we headed over to the Comfort Dental Amphitheatre. What a line up--Eden's Edge, Eli Young Band, Little Big Town, and the headliner--Rascal Flatts. It was the perfect night for a concert--not too hot and not too cold.
This was our first visit to the amphitheatre. It has 7,000 seats and a lawn area for 10,500 people. I was happy to have a seat for a four hour concert, although we did stand the entire time Rascal Flatts was on stage.
My pictures didn't turn out too great--we were pretty far away and it was dark. I did manage to get a few good shots.
This is Eden's Edge, you might know them for a song "Give me an Amen". This is the second time we've seen them and I think they're an up-and-coming group.
The Eli Young Band was up next. My pictures of them came out really fuzzy.
Then my favorite group of the evening--Little Big Town. The four of them have a great sound. They sang their current no. 1 song, Motor Boatin and another favorite of mine, Boondocks.
They have a new album being released on Tuesday and I will have to get it.
Around 9:30, Rascal Flatts made their entrance. It's amazing the number of hit songs they've had. The entire audience sang along to every song. If fact, there were times I thought head singer, Gary Levox, was having the audience sing because he didn't remember the words. Nonetheless, it was a fantastic concert and a great time with my honey!
There were even a few moments when I had all the settings on the camera just right...
but this wasn't one of them. I had put my camera away because I thought the concert was over and then...guess who they brought out on stage--John Elway! In an attempt to quickly grab my camera out of my purse, turn it on, and get all the settings right--John was about to leave and all I got was this fuzzy photo. Lesson learned: never put your camera away until you're sure the concert is finished.
He's the fuzzy guy in the middle...really, I promise it's him.
Comments
Little big town is great, and Rascal Flatts gives a great concert.
Concerts are hard to shoot because of the lighting and contrast and the movement. You did very well, not that I know anything about it.
Thanks for the letter and photograph you sent. I loved them both.
