The Merriest of Christmases
We made it to Phoenix and first on the agenda was Miss G's ice skating performance.
Miss G's parents gave us their two tickets. Each performer only got two tickets due to Covid so we were very grateful to be the lucky ones who got to see her perform. I would post the video, but FB tagged it as a copyright violations because of the music and I'm sure YouTube would too. I don't need another violation.
Here's Miss G and her coach.
Afterwards we went home and made some Christmas cookies.
They came out so good. I can't believe we ate all of them in just a few days.
When you live in Arizona you can do things like hang out in the backyard in the middle of winter.
This is my very photogenic grand cat--Charli Anne.
There's always something going on in Miss G's house.
The reindeer toss was a big hit. This family is so competitive that anything becomes a big challenge.
Our tradition is to have chili on Christmas Eve and Irv is the official cornbread baker.
They have a big firepit in the backyard so lots of time was spent out there.
Of course there were board games, but not nearly as many as when the whole family is together.
Someone received a projector for Christmas so there were even some outdoor movie nights.
When Miss G is around you always have to be prepared for an impromptu dance off and of course there's always judging when your turn is finished. Miss G always wins and it's well deserved--she has the moves.
Santa found his way to Chandler.
And an elf showed up to pass out the gifts on Christmas morning.
Charli loved the gift I gave her. Apparently she's never had treats before.
The appetizers were amazing!
Dinner was catered in as is our new tradition. Even so I felt like Dana spent a lot of time in the kitchen. Next time I propose we grill steaks on the grill like my brother and his family does. Seems much easier for everyone.
The table was beautiful with Irv's grandma's China and the silverware from Adam's grandparents.
The only thing that could have been better was if the whole family could have been together. When your kids are literally spread across the world you have take turns spending holidays at their homes. I'll never be the parent that expects my kids to return to the "homestead" year after year.
I hope you all had the happiest of Christmases! I know I am very blessed.
