The Grandest of Canyons

After visiting the Petrified Forest on our way to Phoenix we made a pitstop in Flagstaff.

Look who we found there!  Miss G and her dad had been skiing that day so we met them in Flagstaff and kept Miss G for the night in our hotel.

Flagstaff is where we found out how little other states care about the pandemic.  The lobby was packed, the swimming pool was packed, the breakfast buffet was packed.  We got dinner from a nice nearby restaurant and brought it up to our room to eat.  No wonder Arizona has more per capita new cases of Covid than anywhere else in the world.

We got up bright and early the next morning and made our way to the Grand Canyon.

It was cold and windy, but wow...

...the canyon was amazing.  I had not been to the Canyon for 30 years or so.  It is an amazing sight.

We took off on the canyon rim trail lead by Miss G.  She kept warning us not too get too close to the edge.

She likes to run ahead and hide from us in the woods and then jump out to scare us when we walk by.

Miss G is all about climbing and exploring things.  She's so much fun too hang out with.

Now a few photos of me trying to capture the grandeur of the Grand Canyon.

I love how there are pine trees here interspersed with cactus.  Both the desert and woodlands combined.

Can you imagine what the first explorers thought we they encountered this place?  Probably something like "how the hell do we get across that?"

There were a few snowball fights along the path.  Miss G was chasing Pappy and then decided to launch her snowball directly into the back of Grammy's head.  How do I get into the middle of their shenanigans?

We didn't have very long to spend at the park because Miss G had a skating practice that afternoon.  We stopped to visit Smoky on the way out of town.  This is also where Irv took a good tumble and after we made sure he was okay we all had a good laugh together.

I hope it's not another 30 years until I get to visit the Grand Canyon again!

It's always been tough for me to get my head around the Grand Canyon just looking at it, let alone trying to photograph it.
Miss G is a ball of fire. Kudos to her and her parents, she is lively and interested in everything.
