Pawtoberfest 2017

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love fur babies. I'm a big supporter of our local Humane Society and one of their favorite fundraisers of mine is Pawtoberfest.  I've been going to this event since it started and each year it gets bigger and better organized.  It used to be a 5K, but they never rented the timing equipment so it didn't go over well as a race.  It has evolved into a 2 mile dog walk followed by a festival that includes a craft beer garden.

Our two "senior" dogs can no longer attend so little Maisy got to go in their place.  It was the first really chilly morning we've had so Irv and I were glad for the long sleeved shirts.

There were dogs of all shapes, sizes, and colors.  This black and white was very unique.  I think it was a standard poodle.

Maisy gets a little nervous in big crowds so she just wanted to be held.  She reminded us of Mary who also can't stand crowded places.

Once we got out on the trail though her ears went forward and her tail went up and she had a great time.  The walk was held in a city park that I was unfamiliar with.  It had all kinds of trails in the woods and then came out on this plateau overlooking the city.  I will definitely be going back there to explore the trails.

Some dogs didn't even walk.  They got to ride in strollers.  (Good grief.)

This was a whole family of dogs in wiener costumes.

They had water stops and treats for the dogs at the festival.  This was a pool filled with water with chunks of hot dog thrown in.  Maisy wouldn't have anything to do with it.  I can guarantee you our Lab, Keira, would have put her face in there to gobble up all the hot dogs.

The registration fee included a taster cup for the beer garden.  Here's Irv taking a taste.  Mostly he got samples and then I drank them.  Yes, by 11:00 in the morning I had a pretty good buzz going.

One of the vendors had root beer so Irv was in soda heaven.

Dunkin Donuts brought dozens and dozens of donuts.  I'm not usually a big donut eater, but when they're free and beer is being served, apparently having a donut or two is the thing to do.

Maisy did great although she's been sleeping ever since we got home.  I guess two miles is a long way for those short legs.  We can't wait until next year!
