Random weekend thoughts

It's been a rough couple of weeks around here and I've been neglecting my blog.  Life has to go back to "normal" though so I need to give my blog the attention it needs.

We decided to have a quiet and restful weekend because we've been on the go for what seems like forever.  However, we had a bunch of yard work to take care of.  The weeds were overtaking us so we had to get to work.  We also had a pile of rocks that were leftover from the tons of rock we had delivered last summer.  After putting those rocks in all our flowerbeds, around the barn and everywhere else we could think of we still had a small pile left.  Because of all the rain this summer we've had some erosion in our driveway that was calling for some rocks.

So we moved them.

Wheelbarrow by wheelbarrow.

Until they were dispersed to the end of our driveway and around the cement pad for our garage.

It looks so much better now don't you think?

Do you know what Irv said?  He said "it would have been easier to go do a 5K".  That's awesome!  (Speaking of 5K...the Denver Broncos are having a 7K on Sunday that ends through the tunnel and onto the field.  Guess who's going to be there?)

We also pulled about 5 wheelbarrows of weeds that we hauled out to the pasture.  My garden also got some much needed attention.

I picked about 5 pounds of green beans.  Anyone want some?

A dozen or so zucchinis.  Free if you want some!

I tried to figure out what to do with all this wine my brother-in-law gave me.  He said some of it is 19 years old.  Do you think it's still good?

I whipped up a couple loaves of zucchini bread.

And smoked some short ribs.

I spent 2 1/2 hours working on the yellow chair in this painting.  Ugh!  Frustrating!  And it still looks horrible.  This painting was supposed to be so easy and it's taking forever.  I cleaned out a corner of one of the guest rooms for my "art studio".  It was time to move off the kitchen table and into my own space.

So that was my nice, quiet, restful weekend.  Oh yes, we saw a fantastic movie-The Hundred Foot Journey with Helen Mirren.  It was a pleasant surprise that I loved.  I give it 4.75 starts...Irv said it was "okay".

How was your weekend?

I gave the 100 foot journey a full five stars although I told Heather that it had a fatal flaw. They were in France and they use the metric system. They would have said the 30 meter journey. But, I'm picking.

The 7K sounds like fun!

Sorry about the rough time you guys have had. You both have been in my prayers.
