Going, going, gone
So I'm taking this class right now called Network Enterprise Solutions. The professor for this class is really into research papers--usually 4-6 pages every week. This week, however, she wants a 6-10 page paper on setting us an Active Directory configuration.
Yawn. Boring. I'm doing whatever I can to avoid writing this paper. I've started it, but every so often I have to wake myself up. I thought I'd take a break and write a new blog.
Yesterday I got to go to the county fair with a co-worker and Irv for the purpose of buying an animal during the livestock sale. They provide a free lunch for the buyers and during lunch all the kids who are selling animals come by and try to talk you into buying their animal. Some of them had great marketing techniques--cards, brochures, pictures, etc My favorite was the cow shaped cookies and the lamb lollipops.
Anyway, our budget doesn't provide for buying any of the grand or reserve champions like this guy.
The grand champion sheep came with this gift basket. Next year I'm going to check out the gift baskets and bid on the animal that comes with the best gift basket.
We had to sit and wait for a couple hours until something came up that we could afford. It was kind of warm in the sale barn, but the 4-H kids kept serving drinks to everyone in the audience.
I tried to buy the animals that a couple of Jillian's 4-H kids were selling, but they quickly went above our budget. Finally one of our customer's sons came up and we were able to buy his sheep.
Being the animal lover I am, I was wishing I could buy it and take it home to live with us, but this is a terminal sale--all the animals go to the butcher right after the sale.
Poor thing.
It was a fun day. I enjoy 4-H kids so much and I met some really nice FFA kids too. They are all so polite and have worked really hard with their animals. I wish we had a bigger budget so we could buy more. There were a lot of kids who really impressed me with the marketing skills.
Okay, now I have to go work on my paper a little more before I need to leave for one of my 4-H kid's bridal shower. (Wow, am I getting old.)
