Random Photos

Today I got out my DSLR camera to take a few shots of the raptor roost in our pasture (more on that in a few days).  When I downloaded the pictures from the card there were some random photos.  So this post is about nothing at all.

This is our two year old Malamute+German Shephard mix, Aspen.

She is the sweetest must lovable dog you'll ever meet.

She is also the most timid, scared dog you'll ever meet.  She's afraid of almost everything including eating or drinking out of her bowl.  We have to coax her to eat and drink.  She also hates any floor that isn't carpeted.  We used to have runners all over the house, but after we got the new floors she was a little better.  I think it's because the LVP have a little ridge to them.

I think this was Irv trying to be artistic.  Good job, dear.

Here's Jasper checking out the scratching post Irv put up for him.

In the summer time he's very itchy.  When I feed him in the morning I douse him with some anti-itch powder and use the curry comb to run it in.  He doesn't get the same treatment from Irv though.

Last year we didn't think Jasper would be around much longer.  He had lost a lot of weight and wasn't thriving.  Then the miracle vet came over, ran a few tests, and diagnosed him with Cushing's syndrome which is an overproduction of the hormone Cortisol.

Here's a more recent picture of him.  He's got his fluffy winter coat on now and he's gained back a lot of his weight.  He gets one tiny miracle pill every morning and it's helping.  He's 31 years old this year.

Then there's the queen of the house, Sophie.

She rules everyone especially the dogs.

I can't wait until spring when the trees start budding and the birds return. Is there anything better than waking up to chirping birds in the morning?

Another shot of Aspen giving us the side eye.

Also on the camera card there was this one shot of a river.  No doubt it's the mighty Yellowstone River, one of my favorite places on earth.  Every day I dread what my fellow park rangers will be facing this summer with fewer staff and resources.

I hope you all have a great week!
