Once again, I've not been following up on my goal to blog more often. There's a simple reason for it...it's winter in Colorado and we've had a long streak of incredibly cold temperatures and some snow here and there.
I feel like an inmate who has been sentenced to solitary confinement. I find winter to be terribly lonely and depressing probably because we live so remotely. My days normally consist of waking up early to feed the horses, doing a little painting, a little reading and trying to get to the gym as often as possible. I really miss being able to be outside in the sunshine and enjoying nature. In the coming week it's supposed to get up to 40 degrees so if the wind isn't blowing I'll try to hit a trail somewhere. Just think, I could be enjoying another winter in Mesa right now.
We're thinking about adding another furball to our family so we dropped by the humane society to see who was there. They literally had about 12 dogs most of which were pit bulls or chihuahuas. This little guy was very cute, but he's a male and we prefer female dogs. This week they're down to about six dogs so the choice is very limited. We'll just have to be patient until the right furball finds us.
I'm still working at finishing up my two bison portraits. Artists never think a painting is completely finished, but this week I vow to get them done. My friend in West Yellowstone posted this picture on FB a few days ago. It's the raven I painted for her during my last stint in YELL alongside a glass raven that she recently did. I miss my YELL friends very much and that's why I've decided to go back for another summer. I need a purpose in my life and a seasonal job fits that bill perfectly.
Mary has been suffering at home with her broken ribs for the last week and a half. We managed to get her out of the house one day to go to a Mexican dinner. We asked her how she liked joining the old people who go to dinner at 5:00 p.m. She starts her new job tomorrow so I'm hoping she can sit upright in a chair for 8 hours per day.
Boring life right now. 50 days until March 21 when spring starts, or at least that's when spring starts for much of the country, not necessarily the frozen tundra. A couple things I'm looking forward to this week...the Broadway touring show Tootsie tomorrow night with my sweetie and a trip to Denver on Wednesday to see To Kill a Mockingbird staring Richard Thomas (John Boy Walton) with my sweetie and my long-time YL friend, Scott.
Hope your day is warm and sunny.
