At Sea
Alaska Cruise #3 for Irv and Ellen. Departed Vancouver July 27, 2019.
We boarded our ship as early as possible on the day of departure which turned out to be a very wise decision. Three cruise ships were in port so getting registered, dropping off the luggage, and going through customs could have been a lengthy process had we arrived later.
We walked onto the ship around 11:30 and were immediately treated to a delicious lunch. Our cabin was ready not long after. Then there was the bon voyage party on the back deck of the ship.
The first two days were at sea. More stories will be coming about the individual ports we visited.

Goodbye Vancouver!
Let the adult beverages begin...nothing better than a fruity drink in a tall glass to start off our cruise.
Then there was the mandatory emergency drill. They no longer make you wear the life jackets. You just assemble at your muster station with your key card which is how they take attendance.
We were off to one of the most beautiful places on earth--Alaska's inside passage.
This is cruise that definitely requires a veranda.
Lots of time was spent out there watching the world go by (or taking a siesta).
Our entire voyage we were tailed by another Holland America ship plus a couple Princess and Norwegian ships.
One morning Marilyn and I got up early and went whale watching. We were not disappointed. Irv managed to get himself out of bed to join us and I think he wasn't disappointed either.
We kinda liked the local brew.
We tried almost all of the drinks of the day. Some were better than others.
We almost won the jackpot bingo--only two more numbers were needed. Oh well.
During happy hour you get two drinks of the day for the price of one!
There were two formal nights on board. We got all dressed up for the first one. We passed on the second formal night. It used to be pretty much mandatory to dress on formal night, not so much anymore. Kind of sad.
