Is it camping season yet?
Do you know what happens when you buy a camper? You start going to RV shows.
It's fun to look and see what's new for 2017. Fireplaces seems to be in for the big rigs. Look at that handsome guy all dressed up and ready to go to work after our excursion.
The big rigs also have beautiful granite counter tops. This particular Class A motorhome was "on sale" for $199,000. Irv said "NO".
Most of the dining tables are about the same, although I went in one big rig that had table and chairs just like your dining room at home.
The fifth wheels have bedrooms upstairs and some of those bedrooms have actual doors.
Here's another fire place in a rig about the size of ours.
There were only a couple glampers. I can't believe that my family of five used to camp in a trailer about this size. Actually, my brothers usually had to sleep outside in a tent. I'm not complaining though because those camping trips were some of my best memories. We got to see a lot of the country with that camper.
I've been wanting to see the inside of one of these camping vans. They were equipped with a bathroom, shower, small kitchen, and a bed. Personally, I felt a little claustrophobic inside this thing, but I think it would be great for a couple who is on the go and only needs a bed to sleep in at night.
It also was on sale.
Then we found the Starcrafts. Our camper is a StarCraft Autumn Ridge. This is the new "mini" version of the Autumn Ridge. Too small for me. This one also has aluminum siding whereas ours has fiberglass. Fiberglass is lighter and it's considered an upgrade. We bought ours at the end of the season and today I realized what a good deal we got. Ours came with all the bells and whistles which makes it look and feel very glamorous, at least to me it's glamping at it's best.
Here's another shot of Irv from the upstairs in a fifth wheel. Don't tell Irv, but I see one of these in our future in several more years. One thing we noticed in the new rigs is that the longer ones have two exterior doors. One in the front and another in the rear that exits from the bathroom. Kind of weird we thought, but I suppose it's a safety issue. RVs ignite very quickly so a quick exit is a must. Our Autumn Ridge has only one exterior door, but two of the windows are emergency exits also.
We didn't come away with any new camping gear, only freebies from various exhibitors. Also, we have two companies coming over to give us bids on new windows for the house. Our windows are kind of worn out so it's time to replace at least some of them. I don't really understand what windows have to do with an RV show, but it was convenient for us.
Next year I'm going to the big RV show up in Denver.

Our little trailer when we were kids served us pretty well. Bob and I didn't mind out sheep camp tent too much.
