I'm ready!
It's hard to believe, but it's true. Except for a handful of gifts that I'm waiting to arrive from Amazon and stocking stuffers that need to be picked up in Idaho, I think I'm ready for Christmas. A whole 10 days early!
Let's review the last few days.
On Saturday I got to go to my painting class! Woohoo! The first and only time I'll be there this month. This is what I thought my next painting was going to be.
Dana took this picture in Rome or somewhere in Europe last year and I thought it would make a really fun painting. There's just one problem--look at the amount of detail. After recently finishing my painting of the Lower Yellowstone Falls with all those rocks, I wasn't ready to anything too detailed. So this is what I decided on.
A cardinal, no not an Arizona Cardinal, just a red cardinal perched on a limb. It starts with a sketch on the canvas, I've started adding the background, and after Christmas I'll start on the red feathers.
While I was in my painting lesson, an unexpected snow storm hit and everything outside instantly turned to ice. I had planned to finish my shopping, but decided I should just head home. An hour and a half later I arrived at home after taking multiple detours to avoid people who slid down hills or into curbs or across medians.
Being stuck at home allowed me to finish my Christmas baking. We're pretty simple and don't do decorated cookies anymore since everyone is all grown up now. Someday GiGi and I will decorate Christmas cookies together.
Snicker doodles because they're yummy.
Ginger snaps because my brother loves them. Even though we won't be together at Christmas I'll still be thinking of him and his family while I eat his ginger snaps.
And of course everyone's favorite--chocolate chip. I had to get them packaged and into the freezer before Irv ate them all.
Sunday morning it was still frozen outside so I finished wrapping the gifts and got them all packaged up to mail to Arizona, Idaho, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. If you don't see your state listed there then you were Irv's responsibility and I'll just say...don't lose hope.
After that I finished up some custom Glam Glasses including these Packer glasses. I won't normally do anything that might violate a copyright, but since this was a private sale I thought it would be okay. Shhh! It's our secret.
They turned out so dang cute! I'm going to have to make a set for Jillian and Brian.
I also had requests for some Grinch wine glasses and some more snowy aspens in addition to some whiskey glasses with a company's logo on them.
After all that the sun had come out and I was able to go finish my shopping. I ran all over town on Sunday afternoon--a very productive day!
I came home from work one day last week and Irv had gotten the Christmas decorations out and put lights on a couple trees outside. We don't decorate too much anymore since we spend the holidays with my dad. Together we decorated the tree inside which Sophie greatly appreciated. She turns into a lion while perching on the limbs. She thinks she is so stealthy when she's hiding in the tree. Adorable!
So now I have a few days to enjoy the season. My office has it's own decorations which make me feel so peaceful.
Santa, that my MIL made, is sitting on my window sill right above my whiteboard that lists the one million tasks that need to be done in the IT Department. I'm just not going to look any lower than Santa.
This morning I got an early gift--a two hour delay at work due to snow and wind aka blizzard conditions. I took advantage of the extra two hours in the morning by walking two miles on the treadmill and then packaging up the last custom glass order to be shipped to California.
You can't really tell it from this picture because Irv had just shoveled the driveway, but there's about a two foot drift right behind my car. Rather than shoveling again I just backed out of the garage as quickly as possible. I was kind of hoping I'd get stuck and couldn't make it to work, but then that would be hard when the truck is sitting right there and it can get through just about anything.
Here's a little better look at the wind and drifting snow. Yes, I will admit it's pretty and yes, it makes for green pastures in the summer, but that's it. Nothing else is good about it (although deep down I'm thankful for the moisture).

Fantastic driving conditions, but I only saw one overturned car on the highway.
Now I'm going to be at work praying for sunshine so it all melts before it's time to head home.
Have a good day! Are you ready for Christmas?

That weather looks scary. I don't mind snow as much as ice.
Your glam glasses are looking fantastic. Congratulations on you and Mary's new venture.
