A Quiet Week
Not much has been going on this week. We had false spring last week during our camping trip because winter decided to re-emerge with snow over the weekend followed by wind and cold since then.
A friend who is in Switzerland this month offered her Anastasia tickets to Irv and I. I had never seen this show so I was excited to go. I have to admit I was a little disappointed. The actors all did a great job, but I thought it could have been shortened from it's almost three hour running time.
The people sitting behind us decided to rest their cups of red wine on the top of the ledge that we were sitting in front of and guess what happened at intermission...I had two cups of red wine fall down my back. To top it all off they all just sat there and laughed like it was the funniest thing. I'm usually not confrontational, but their laughter infuriated me. These were people our age too. I don't think an apology ever left their lips.
I'm about to finish another painting with my teacher. It's a good thing too because I only have one more session with her before I depart for the north land. I'm looking for name suggestions. I'm thinking something like Solitude in the Garden.
Today was opening day for the west entrance of Yellowstone. My boss had originally asked me to be there for opening day, but I asked for a couple extra weeks. Thank God! I'm not sure things will be much better in two weeks, but I can only hope. The Chamber interviewed the first two vehicles in line and they arrived at 3:30 a.m. to be the first in the park today. Why?
My friend is going to send me a photo of my campsite later today. The pictures I've seen of other campsites in the park show just the pad for the camper plowed out with 4-5 walls of snow surrounding the site. Woohoo!
I have to admit I'm not too thrilled to go back this year, but I've made a commitment and I will honor that. I think my reluctance has to do with the lack of support I get from people around me other than my beloved husband. I've been made to feel guilty about following my passion especially by my MIL who really let me know her feelings about it before she passed. Maybe it is selfish, but I think it's okay for me to follow my dreams especially since my hubby has no interest in joining me.
Exciting news...we are beginning to show signs of life around her. The lilacs are looking promising. I just hope they can survive temps in the low 20s for the next few nights.
The selvia is coming back to life also. I need to get the flower beds cleaned up before I leave. I think I'll wait until after this weekend's forecast snow.
Hope you had a good week too!
