Work and then Play
Sometimes in life you just have to clean things out and get organized.
One day last week I decided it was time to go through our storage shed and get things organized. The main reason was so I could pull out my leftover craft fair items to donate to our church for their upcoming Christmas Market (which has since been cancelled).
I always like to have like items together--makes it much easier to find things when you're looking for them. Irv's hummingbird feeders got their own tub this year. Why does he have so many feeders?
Much to my surprise and delight, Irv volunteered to come out and help. I'm a much more organized person than he is. I say if it's been out in the shed for over a year and you haven't used it, do you really need it?
First step was to pull everything out.
Then you go through every single thing and make the keep, discard, and donate piles. Then you load it all back it arranged by what type of items they are.
That entire left wall is Christmas and other holiday stuff. Three Christmas trees, tubs and tubs of Christmas and fall decorations. My next goal is to go through those before Christmas and get it down to the essentials. Although with the many Christmas movies I've been watching I might get inspired to decorate the entire house like I used to. Probably not though.
It was an exhausting process, but we were done by mid-afternoon. It feels so good and liberating to be organized--even Irv agreed.
The next day we decided to get our steps in by visiting our zoo. It's built on the side of a mountain and it's a workout all on its own. We (or more accurately I) wanted to see our new three week old giraffe calf. She hasn't been named yet because the zoo always waits a month to give them a name.
Needless to say she is adorable. Both baby and mama, Bailey, are doing great!
The giraffes were the first stop at the zoo then we headed out to see everyone else. I love the meerkats even if they are vicious little meat-eaters.
I didn't take photos of everything because I have a million zoo pictures. Even though we're old people we still have a zoo membership which means we can stop by for a visit whenever we'd like.
The wallabies were very active and let us get very close. Those faces are adorable.
The reptile building is my least favorite, but this guy was just so dang cute.
We've always had a big yellow python, but he was gone and this guy took his place. I wonder what happened to the big guy.
Emmit and Digger were out in their enclosure. I used to get to care for these guys when I volunteered at the zoo. I don't know if this is Emmit or Digger.
Majestic as always.
The penguins were out of their pool and were walking around their enclosure. Those faces!
Baby Omo is over 500 lbs now and as cute as ever.
Love the crowns on these guys. We didn't see the peacocks on this visit, but these guys are equally as beautiful.
We visited the primate building and then my last photo was of our baby mountain goat that was born this summer. He's getting big fast. I think it's great that we visit the zoo so often that I've gotten to know most of the animals.
Our visit was good for 8K steps.
