Shopping with Maisy

Maisy got to go shopping last week.  She needed to have one of her vaccines updated before the end of the month.  We had a couple errands to run and it was too hot to leave her in the car so she got to go inside and surprisingly nobody asked us to remove her.

The first stop was the local farm and ranch store to pick up more feed for the aging horses.

Cha-ching!  Trying to get weight on Jasper is more than a pain in the butt, it's hard on the wallet too.  He's now getting fed three times a day and has gone from about three pounds of senior equine per day to ten pounds per day of a mixture of senior equine, hay pellets and beet pulp.  In addition, he's getting about 10 pounds of hay per day.

We think part of the problem is that the other horse, Doc, had gotten used to kicking Jasper out of his stall at feeding time so he could finish up Jasper's food.  To prevent this we now lock Jasper in his stall at meal time and we give him a good amount of time to finish his food.  Hopefully all these measures will help.  I sure don't want the neighbors to be calling the sheriff about the condition of my horse.  He's a body condition of 4 so not terribly skinny, but we need to get weight on him before winter arrives.

While locking Jasper in his stall for lunch today, the wind caught the top half of the Dutch door and slammed it directly into my head when I was looking the opposite direction.  It hurt like hell and my first thought was that it wasn't a great time to not bring my phone to the barn with me since I was home alone.  I got back to the house and immediately put ice on the ever growing goose egg on the side of my head.  I'm just hoping it doesn't throw a clot and do me in.  (One you've had a blood clot it's always a fear in the back of your mind.)

Here's something else I found at the feed store.  I thought about getting one for some of my "Let's Go Brandon" friends.  😂😂😂

Maisy also got to go to a couple home improvement stores.  This red beast has been with us for 18 years mowing the yard and the 10 acres around our house multiple times per summer.  The whole mowing mechanism fell off.  Repair or replace?  It gave us 18 good years so it was time to replace.

One big box home improvement store had the mower Irv wanted for $2,099, but they only sell them online.  Another store of the same name had them in stock for $2,399.  They wouldn't honor the other store's price so Irv went back to store #1 and ordered it from them.

The confusing thing is that store #1 will have the mower brought down from store #2 (the $2,399 mower) and then we can pick it up at store #1 for $2,099.  Can we pick it up from store #2 ourselves, Irv asked?  No, that's not possible.  So now we're waiting 7-14 days for the mower to make its way about 8 miles from store #2 to store #1 so we can pick it up.  Does that make sense to anyone?

In other shopping news that didn't include Maisy, we finally found a sectional for our family room.  We've been looking and looking and had about given up hope until we came across this beast.  In our old age we wanted some recliners and a chaise lounge.  We placed the order and it should be delivered in November.  Yes, I said November.  In these strange times you just have to get used to waiting for things and paying more.

So, as you can see we're doing our best to contribute to the economy.

Before I close, let's talk about the price of gas.  In other parts of the country I've heard it has fallen below $4.00.  Today I paid $4.69 which is the lowest in quite some time.  Does "Brandon" get any credit for that?  According to some FB friends, he's only responsible for price hikes, not price decreases.

I have no words.

I think she prefers riding in the stroller when she shops. That is the biggest sofa I have ever seen! Love the bucket.
