Thanksgiving and more

Image
I hope everyone had a nice pandemic Thanksgiving.  It was certainly different this year.  The need for social distancing and staying safe from the virus certainly affected our family, but we made the best of it. One thing that didn't change was my retirement from cooking on holidays.  I used to spend all day in the kitchen cooking on holidays.  Yes, it was really delicious, but when someone does all the cooking that means that person didn't get to enjoy the day.  Now we get a Thanksgiving meal in a box. And then there's after the meal, you know, when the cleanup has to be done?  It seems that the same people who cook are the ones doing the cleanup.  Usually it's the men who sit on their butts while the women cook and then they continue sitting on their butts while the women do the cleaning.  It may have taken a few years, but my darling husband learned that everyone pitches in during these events.   We not only celebrated Thanksgiv...

For I was hungry...

My church has become very divided.  The maskers versus the anti-maskers.  With the spike in Covid in our community, the Board decided the best thing to do was to move the services online. I concur.  I haven't been to our church for months, but I believe that I can worship my God in any location including from my couch.  He's always with me wherever I might be. Something to ponder during this time of year: For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; I was naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.' (Matthew 25:35-36) The King will answer and say to them, "Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me". (Matthew 25: 40) During this Thanksgiving week let's do what we can to care of those who are less fortunate than ourselves.  Ther...

Skywatch Friday: Birds and Cows

My husband complained that I haven't blogged in weeks.  It's true, but there's a good reason why. Two weeks ago I had surgery on my foot...a plantar fasciectomy to be precise.  After a summer of having to keep my hiking to 3 1/2 miles or less while working in Yellowstone, I finally agreed to have the surgery.  I had been trying conservative methods of treatment for a year and a half with little to no success.   I had to have a Covid test and self-isolate one week before the procedure.  Since then I've left the house once and that was for a post-op check.  I'm following the doctor's orders to the letter because I know how important it is for my foot to heal properly. Anyway, I've been stuck at home for three weeks so I've not had inspiration to blog about anything.  We did have a couple exciting things happen at the farmstead this week though. In September 2019 my husband put up a  raptor roost in our pasture.  (Click here to read a...
