Happy Birthday????

Image
It's been a wild and crazy 10 days. My birthday was several days ago and two things happened that week. We had a forecast for the biggest snow storm in three years and... ...my daughter had another kidney stone that needed surgical intervention.  Both of these items happened on the very day of my birthday.  We were supposed to get several inches of snow so we decided one of us needed to stay home and take care of the animals while the other escorted MP to her surgery and recovery.  Her dad was the hero who took her to the hospital. Having been through that surgery myself I knew there would be no going out for a birthday dinner so I made a pot of chili for my birthday dinner.  Ranking my birthdays from #1 to #64, this one will definitely be #64.  Thanks to everyone who sent me a card, flowers, gifts, or took the time to call.  That's what made it special. Four days after her surgery, MP started a complete renovation on her townhome.  Both MP and h...

Fake Spring #1

Last week we had some almost spring-like weather.  We recently discovered a regional park that's not too far away from our house so that's been our go to spot for the week. Maisy, our little dog, likes to walk herself.  She was also adopted from the Humane Society. Someone put some effort in building this little hut. A little further down river we saw evidence of beavers.  Hopefully we'll be able to spot some on one of our future visits. There was a little waterfall with all kinds of warning signs to stay away. There were lots of sleeping geese on the kid's fishing pond.  When we passed back...

Skywatch Friday: Kinderdijk

Image
I was in the Netherlands last November and visited Kinderdijk where there are 19 historic windmills dating back to the 1700s. It was a cold, windy, overcast day which made for beautiful photos.  As an artist I'm considering turning this one into a painting...I'm just not sure about all the detail it would require. Hope you're having a good week!  Linking with Skywatch Friday.
